OUR STORY
OUR FAMILY STORY
Four Generations, One Tradition
In our family, everything begins with my grandma, Elisabeth. She grew up in a small village where winters were long, and love was shown through the work of your hands. She learned to weave on an old wooden loom, creating rugs that were more than just fabric... they were comfort, memory, and home.
My mom, Terezia, inherited that same steady creativity. She carried the loom into her own life, weaving in the evenings after long days, turning simple threads into something warm and lasting. Every rug she made felt like a hug, strong, familiar, full of love...
Then came I, Terezia. I grew up surrounded by these two incredible women, their stories and laughter filling every corner of the house. Even when life pulled me in different directions, the sound of the loom, the patterns, the colors, they were my roots.
And now, there is my son, Csaba.
Curious, bright-eyed, always watching. One day he asked me: “Can I learn to weave like Grandma?”
In that moment, I knew the truth:
Our thread, the one my grandma started, is still moving forward. And it’s never going to break...
Every rug we make today carries a piece of Elisabeth, Terezia, me, and little Csaba…
Four generations, one tradition, woven with love...

THE FOUNDER
Terezia Baranyi
My name is Terezia, and my story begins in a small Ukrainian village where I was born and raised. I grew up in a creative family, surrounded by the kind of handmade beauty that comes from tradition, patience, and love. My mom and my grandma were my first teachers... they showed me how to work with my hands, how to weave, and how to let creativity flow naturally into everyday life.
Those lessons became a part of me.
As I got older, I realised how important it was to preserve everything they taught me, not just for myself but for others who might feel the same connection to their roots. That’s how Mama’s Rugs was born. It’s my way of keeping our traditions alive, sharing our story, and showing people who we are and where we come from.
Every piece I create carries a bit of my family, my village, and my heart.
Through Mama’s Rugs, I hope people can feel that warmth and history in every thread.
